Sorry for the slow postings over the last week or so. It has been for good reason, however. Thankfully, I have been staying busy with both The Dallas Observer, as well as Best of Texas.Com.

SATURDAY NIGHT – Shooter Jennings, Lucero, Roger Alan Wade & 1100 Springs

Ike Reilly’s (Myspace / Official) Poison the Hit Parade was one of my favorite albums from a couple of years back. Reilly’s mix of rock, funk, country and blues wrapped around lyrics stocked with wit and venom made for an enjoyable listen. Reilly’s new record, Hard Luck Stories (Rock Ridge) doesn’t seem to be any different after the initial listen. In fact, I figure that based upon the lead single from the album that will be released on Nov. 24th.

“The War On The Terror & The Drugs” features vocal turns by Shooter Jennings and David Lowery of Cracker fame. It’s a jolly good time and a definite highlight of the new record. I love it when an artist can still perform well while his tongue is plastered inside his cheek.
