Joe Pug GIVE-AWAY!!!

Look, let’s cut to the chase, here. We all love Joe Pug and his folk-eriffic work over the past four years. When he finally released a full-fledged LP last year, Messenger, appropriate hosannas were sung by many, including this blogger, for sure.

While the recorded output of Mr. Pug has been consistently stellar, his live product is equally so, whether with a full band accompanying him, or if he’s just standing alone, letting all out for everyone to take in.

Joe Pug is hitting the Dallas/Ft. Worth area next week, as he swings by The Loft in Dallas. The Loft has seen an insane amount of talent grace its stage as of late (Frightened Rabbit, Felice Brothers, Trampled by Turtles, The Vaselines, among others) and of course, this coming Saturday will be no exception to that rule.

I can’t imagine that I have to tell you too many reasons as to why it’s a really good idea to catch a show at the Granada Theater in Dallas with both Bobby Bare Jr. and Hayes Carll performing, right? Good, didn’t think so. Bare’s last album is yet another great collection from the guy that will simply put on one of the best live shows your likely to see all year, and Carll will hopefully bust out some stuff from his eagerly awaited new album. I caught him live, back in July and he wasn’t doing that just yet, but I imagine he will this week.

I found this on KROQ’s website, as I was getting myself in the mood for tomorrow night’s Social D show in Dallas. Lucero and Frank Turner open up, and it should be one whale of a show. This is the lead-tune from the legendary band’s upcoming release, Hard Times & Nursery Rhymes.

While I am very excited to see Mumford & Sons for the second time in only four months tonihgt, I am beyond thrilled to see the new line-up of Cadillac Sky open the show. Surely, the departure of lead-singer Bryan Simpson will create a void, but early word has it that the new guy, Levi Lowery, is tearing it up.

40 Nights of Rock

This is an insanely cool project, helmed by two insanely cool dudes. I had the chance to chat with them a few months ago, just before their trip began. Now, their trip is over, and the fruits of their raucous 40 day journey through American rock is beginning to bare fruit. Steve LaBate was one of, if not the, best writers for Paste, before it’s sad demise. While I have long been envious of the adventures he experienced when working that gig, this excursion takes the cake.
