The other day, I mentioned that I had some rootsier stuff in-store for all of you, and I wasn’t lying (this time). Over on Best of Texas’ blog, The Squawker, I regularly write about my favorite Texas musical subjects, and perhaps unsurprisingly, many of the artists lean towards the country/folk/americana realm. So, below are a few links to some items I hope that you’ll find beneficial as you seek out new music from the Lone Star State.

I have a new radio show in Dallas, and two of my favorite singer/songwriters came by recently to perform.

One of Austin’s Honky-Tonk kings, Jesse Dayton, has a brilliant new record out.

The latest album from Lubbock’s Thrift Store Cowboys is perhaps the best “Texas record” of the year, and easily one of the years best, regardless of which state it’s from.

Sorry for the slow postings over the last week or so. It has been for good reason, however. Thankfully, I have been staying busy with both The Dallas Observer, as well as Best of Texas.Com.
