Slobberbone – “Gimme Back My Dog”
4 December 2009 in Local Music (D/FW), Music, Old School, Random, blah blah blah
As I am still being dominated by my eMusic addiction, I have decided to go after a few records that I have been needing to replace for a while (things happen). This type of subscription service is great for taking chances on lesser-known bands, but it is equally great for reconnecting with long-lost greats. I finally made the responsible decision to use some credits on Slobberbone’s 2000 CD, Everything You Thought Was Right Was Wrong Today.
Plain and simple, it’s a masterful album. Much of this album seems to be what would happen if 1993 Jay Farrar and pre-rehab Mike Ness hooked up and had a baby that was born full-grown and possessed a full beard and whiskey breath in a log cabin. Cow-Punk at it’s finest. My favorite track from that disc is the seemingly silly, but seriously sensitive “Gimme Back My Dog”…enjoy.
