The best artists are able to blend styles and create a seamless concoction that is natural and organic. Grayson Capps (Official / Myspace) has made a career out of his ability to pull that off where so many other come across as forced and fake. Acoustic blues, folk, country and gospel tones create a warm tapestry that unfolds over the course of his new album Grayson Capps – Live at The Paradiso (Hyena Records).

With several excellent albums of southern soul under his belt, Capps spreads the wings of the 23 song set-list featured on the live album over his entire career. The raw strums and emotionally strained vocals are served well by the live recording. I can imagine that a video companion to this album would be even more suitable.
