Lissie – “Little Lovin’”

I’m not the first guy to write about newcomer Lissie (Myspace). I am cool with that, since her new EP, Why You Runnin’ (Fat Possum) is really good. It’s hard to place her in a specific, nice and neat genre. There’s a bit of folk, there’s some rock, there’s a thumpin’ stand-up bass and it’s produced by a member of Band of Horses. Her breathy, simple vocals are distinct, but familiar. The lead track from the upcoming EP is “Little Lovin’” and is the song that best represents the others on the disc. Starts off soft and slow, but builds into a stomping good time.
