If you haven’t been able to tell recently, I have been in a folky-country kinda mood. Recent songs that I have shared with you from Stephen Kellogg and Quiet Life have had just enough a certain pace and vibe that seems to hit me in just the right spot. Maybe that makes me a sucker, maybe the makes me lazy, but whatever.
Another song that was brought to my attention recently that fits into a similar realm as the previously mentioned songs is the new track from the debut album from Harper Simon. Spending a good bit of time in L.A., it’s clear that the rays of the California sunshine have dripped their honey onto the sweet pedal steel that dances its way throughout “Shooting Star”. The vocal performance fits the mood perfectly as, at times, it seems to be a strengthened whisper. Simon’s self-titled, debut album is coming out soon and I’ll be excited to hear more.
