Roman Candle – “Hey There”

Roman Candle can kick out the jams
Thanks to Brett Dillon playing them on KHYI and to my buddy Chip over at Amber Waves of Twang, I have really become a big fan of North Carolina’s Roman Candle (Official / Myspace). Their new album, Oh Tall Tree In the Ear (Carnival Recording Co) is a plain and simple whale of a time.
While my favorite song of the entire disc is “Why Modern Radio Is A-O.K.”, the track I have for you below, “They Say”, is a foot stomping and air-drumming gem that really showcases the all-out vocals of Skip Matheny. The folk-rock vibe of this song is a fair representation of the entire album, I think. Enjoy!

I’ve been seeing this band pop up around the blogs lately, but I never took the time to listen before. This is some seriously catchy stuff.
I like that you’ve added streaming mp3s to the site lately.
Thanks Nelson – Brett Dillon on 95.3 has been playing what is presumably a bootleg of “Modern Radio” for a couple of years now, so that was my formal intro to them. “Catchy” is a great word for this song as well as the group as a whole…I have enjoyed putting the audio up also, I hated only giving links to the bands myspace. I think the posts are more complete this way…
I am diggin’ this song as well.
cool, good. i think you’ll like the album too, its got that same vibe throughout…
