Biting Other Blogs: Sons of Bill
25 August 2009 in Biting Other Blogs, Music, Random, blah blah blah
Biting Other Blogs is an occasionally occurring feature that will direct your attention to a specific blog post or two that, most likely, I wish I had posted myself. Giving credit where credit is due, I typically wont blab too much, except to encourage you to get up on whatever blog I am highlighting…
I’ll be the first to admit that I often get tired of listening to “Alt-Country”, “Red Dirt” and/or “Rockin’ Country” that seems to simply be a weak knock-off of every other band that may fit into those really loose boundaries. When I listen to a band that fits into the comfy environs of those categorizations and I still feel as though I am listening to something of extremely fresh quality, I sit up and remember why this sound and vibe just scratches me where I itch so often. Thanks to some wise and observant blogs out there, I have really gotten into Charlottesville Virginia’s Sons of Bill. After listening to their album, One Town Away (produced by Jim Scott who has also produced recent work from Kathleen Edwards), I have added them to the “must-see-acts” on my ACL Fest schedule. See why I have done that for yourself…
The 9513 actually interviewed the boys recently…
Craig over at CMT put them on his summer playlist…
Country Standard Time had some nice things to say about their recent record.
Go ahead and sample their sound on their Myspace Page…

[...] Overall, their album, Returning to Steam, reminds me a whole hell of a lot of last year’s fantastic Sons of Bill record, One Town [...]
