Surprise! Allen Thompson
30 July 2009 in Music, Random, Uncategorized, blah blah blah
I was perusing the Myspace page of a friend and sure enough, I heard a song that I wasn’t familiar with, but immediately was drawn to. After further inspection, I found that the artist was Allen Thompson. These are the best kinds of surprises. I had no clue that when I sat down to a bit of blogging that I would stumble onto what is quickly one of my favorite CD’s currently in my rotation.
I will likely talk more about this album very soon but, if your drug is folky-country with a smidgen of roots and rock mixed in, then Thompson is your dealer. That point was hammered home even further when I discovered that his most recent album, 26 Years, can be downloaded for free from his webiste. Most dealers give you the first one free, you know (not that I would know). After one listen, I am hooked (enough drug puns for ya?) and I am ready for my next fix. Below are some videos from Thompson’s various Myspace bulletins.
