North Texas Extravaganza!!

the Orbans, one of the many reasons that you shouldn't ever ignore the "FW" in D/FW
Thanks to local publications like The Dallas Observer and Quick DFW, a married father of a 2 year old can still find out about quality acts without having to spend every night in the clubs of Dallas, Denton and Ft. Worth (even though that would be preferable…don’t tell my wife I said that). Here are some acts from around the North Texas region that I have really been digging lately…
The Orbans - (Ft. Worth) Modern rock with a hint of twang. Hooks that stick with ya. Their EP, Switchblade Waterpistol, is as catchy of a set of tunes as you are likely to hear anytime soon.
The Atoms - (Dallas) Country with serious doses of rock. The band doesn’t seem to take themselves too seriously, even though they seriously rock.
The Slow Burners - (Denton) Featuring the extremely talented and charismatic Ryan Thomas Becker (of RTB2 fame), along with other great players from Denton. The rough edges of their sound create a delicious blurring of almost any lines that would attempt to confine them into a single category.
