When I went to this year’s Larry Joe Taylor festival, I knew there were a few names on the bill that were part of the younger, newer group of up and comers that I wasn’t too familiar with. Josh Abbott and his band were one of those, and were easily the most impressive of the newer acts that I watched while I was there. Coming out of Lubbock, Abbott employs a fiddle and even a banjo at times in his live set, which sadly, is a rarity for the Red Dirt rock of today.
Be sure to catch Abbott, along with The Kyle Bennett Band and Bobby Duncan at The Granada Theater in Dallas on Wednesday night. With kids home from school, this show will be packed, as all three of these emerging acts are promoting new, well-received albums.
