Biting Other Blogs: Charlie Robison’s Beautiful Day
18 June 2009 in Biting Other Blogs, Blogroll, Music, Texas Music, blah blah blah
Biting Other Blogs is an occasionally occurring feature that will direct your attention to a specific blog post or two that, most likely, I wish I had posted myself. Giving credit where credit is due, I typically wont blab too much, except to encourage you to get up on whatever blog I am highlighting…
I have made my feelings for the work of Charlie Robison quite clear before. Understandably, many bloggers and writers are pumped for the new Robison record, Beautiful Day (Dualtone). Given the length of time since his last record, I wasn’t sure what to expect, given the tumultuous string of events in Robison’s personal life since the last disc came out. Thankfully, the record is abso-friggin-lutely stellar. At times, he rocks with self assured swagger, and at other times, he aches with the insecurity of a broken man who has no clue what the future holds. There isn’t a question in my mind that this disc will see plenty of light at the top of many critics’ best-of 2009 lists.
Here are what some of my favorite sites have had to say…
Galleywinter liked the disc a good bit…
So did Jim over at The 9513…
