As you may have noticed, we have a new look around here.  I guess you could call it a slightly belated present for The Gobblers Knob’s 2nd Birthday.  I want to send a big shout out to my bot, the guy who gave the site it’s new flava, Dave Grant!!

Also, to celebrate all the various occasions, I have some stuff to give-away!  thanks to the amazing folks at Sugar Hill Records, we have autographed CD’s from Reckless Kelly, Sarah Borges, Scott Miller and the always excellent James McMurtry

In order to make things easier on all involved, I’ll make it very simple to enter.  Leave a comment below this post with the name of the album (and artist who’s album it is) that you are loving the most right now, and I’ll draw at random on Friday morning…winner takes all!!!

Enjoy the new design and enter for the swag!!

  1. A.A. Bondy’s “American Hearts” is my new favorite CD. I love his lyrics … I love his musical style. The title song, “American Hearts” is probably my favorite cut of all. Such purity … such sweetness … and at the same time, he’s wry and a little dark, too, like on “Killed Myself When I Was Young.” Top notch stuff, here.
P.S. The new page looks good!

  2. Sarah Holcombe on 12 May 2009
  3. When the weather turns nice and the days warm up I add the holy trilogy of fishing pole, beer cooler, and Scott H. Biram’s Dirty One Man Band to my already cluttered car.

  4. Jake on 12 May 2009
  5. I am really digging “The Stars Are Out” by Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles!

  6. Tim on 12 May 2009
  7. The Gourd’s Haymaker. Upbeat music with witty, geeky lyrics. Great stuff!

  8. Nicole on 12 May 2009
  9. As a teacher, I go to my classroom early to do my work and love cranking up Ryan Bingham’s Mescalito before the cranky crowd of teachers show.

  10. Gary Zarda on 13 May 2009
  11. I can’t stop listening to the new Missy Higgins

  12. Jamie Shaw on 13 May 2009
  13. Eric Church’s Carolina is owning me right now

  14. Josh Price on 13 May 2009
  15. Wreck your Life by the Old 97′s. There are a bunch of great songs on there, but my favorite track has to be “Dressing Room Walls”. There is a classic line in there when he says, ” I’m gonna try not to fall down when singin’ for y’all”.

  16. Fitz on 13 May 2009
  17. Fitz – I saw the 97′s last weekend, they were fantastic! It looks like theyll be touring again soon, so hopefully theyll make it down to your neck of the woods this time!

  18. Kelly on 13 May 2009
  19. I know it’s been out for a while, but I still love Bulletproof by Reckless Kelly, especially God Forsaken Town and Ragged as the Road.

  20. Betsy Power on 14 May 2009
  21. I am loving Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles latest disc, “The Stars Are Out.” The songs sounded especially good live last night!

  22. Michael Burke on 14 May 2009
  23. Kelly…I’m seriously jealous of the fact that you are continuously afforded the opportunity to see great bands live. I, on the other hand, just found out I will be out of town when Hank 3 plays down here, thus probably missing my one chance to see quality live music for the calendar year. I do hope you are right about the next leg of the 97′s tour!!

  24. Fitz on 14 May 2009
  25. Wilco (The Album) is doing it for me right now. The streaming version, not the leak, mind you. :)
