Ritter Randomness
2 April 2009 in Music, Random, blah blah blah
I try not to get too mushy on you guys here, but give me a bit of room here…On the way home from work today, I was listening to the local publicly funded, indie station (KNON 89.3) that plays all forms of indie folk, country and Americana from 4pm – 6pm Monday through Friday. I heard a familiar voice and couldn’t place it immediately. It was one of those really odd situations when you dont necessarily remember the lyrics automatically, or immediately remember the artist or even the name of the song, but gradually, you have a vibe stirred from within that brings to mind not only the artist, but a time in your life prior, when that voice was very prominent in your daily existence. That may not have made sense, so sorry. When I heard this particular song kick into its chorus and I remembered that it was “Harrisburg” by Josh Ritter. Great song by a great artist that I haven’t talked about near enough on the Knob. I was going through some “stuff” a few years ago, right after Ritter’s Hello Starling CD came out, and I guess I played his discs so much around that time that merely hearing his voice today transported me to that period before I even fully recognized it was his voice over the radio. Pretty random, but pretty cool.
Go to Josh Ritter’s site to download Harrisburg (for free) among other great tracks…
