Say dawg, it was just aaight for me, ya know, a little pitchy dawg...
One of the aspects of blogging I enjoy the most is helping shine a light on bands that deserve more attention than they seem to get regularly. It seems as though I share that love with KHYI 95.3 The Range. Joining the ranks of Shiner Sunday, Texas Music Revolution, and the Shiner Rising-Star Contest is The Texas Music Showdown in the Stockyards 2009! This great event, taking place weekly at The White Elephant Saloon (where I recently had an adult night out), showcases tons of great acts that have been lighting up the honky-tonk scene in and around Ft. Worth for years now.
Another cool item regarding the Showdown is that your’s truly, The Ol’ Gobblers Knob will be on-hand as a “Guest Judge” on March 17th, St. Patty’s Day. That is the night of the first semi-final round, to which Jordan Mycoskie and The Hawkes have already made it to, which means it will be a great set of bands already, regardless of who else makes it. As I said earlier, these aren’t acts that just recently decided to buy an amp from a pawn shop and start a band to see if they could win some prizes. The two aforementioned bands have been plugging away and gaining larger and more loyal crowds with each gig over the last few years, so therefore this isn’t really a ”talent show” per se, as much as it truly is a Showdown.

Dude, that’s super cool–congrats!
thanks BFD! I was really surprised when Brett Dillon asked me to do this. It’ll be one of the cooler St. Pattys day’s I’ve ever had for sure!
