Biting Other Blogs: Phosphorescent – To Willie

To Willie, indeed, but we get to benefit also...
Biting Other Blogs is an occasionally occurring feature that will direct your attention to a specific blog post or two that, most likely, I wish I had posted myself. Giving credit where credit is due, I typically wont blab too much, except to encourage you to get up on whatever blog I am highlighting…
I mentioned listening to Phosphoresent’s To Willie (Dead Oceans) album a couple of weeks ago. I liked it then, but I love it now. As it turns out, I am not the only one. No surprise there, as this album seems to supply a need that many of us have for one of these new, neo/alt- folkies to sink their teeth into something that is easy to grab and tightly hold onto. Tales of the wilderness, or snow or mythology and all that are great, but man, it’s hard to beat the simple genius and everyday heartache that Willie Nelson has provided for so many years. Thanks to Matthew Houck for recognizing that. Also, thanks to so many other great bloggers for handling this one….
Captain Obvious likes the album…
So does Aquarium Drunkard…
The hard to please folks at Pitchfork are well-pleased…
And my man, Baron, over at the Nation of Twang also says it aint too shabby…
