While it wont actually be taking place on the greenest of holidays, The Dallas Observer’s Annual St. Paddy’s Day Parade will be followed up by it’s annual “After Party” on Saturday, March 14th. In years past I have seen Social Distortion and The Toadies (post break-up, pre-reunion) at this gig and it’s always been a whale of a time. This shin-dig never seems to have any Irish beer on hand, and for this Irish lad, that’s a tad strange, but they at least get the bands right year in and year out (other years have seen Violent Femmes and Ghostland Observatory headline the event).
This year isn’t any different. I have been blabbing recently about the depth of the quality of the North Texas Music Scene, and the show on March 14th is a classic showcase on why I feel this way. Each of the bands have been spotlighted in one form or another here on the ol’ Knob before so none of this should be terribly shocking to you.
The O’s, The Drams, 1100 Springs and yes, The Old 97′s will rock the heck out of the weekend before St. Paddy’s day for sure.
