While much of Deep Ellum, just outside of downtown Dallas, resembles a ghost-town, there are still a few great spots that showcase worthy talent, both regional as well as national. Sons of Hermann Hall, Club Dada and the legendary Adair’s continue to ignore the fact that many of their neighbors are no longer hosting bands or the crowds that would flock to see them. Another venue that has been bucking the odds is The All Good Cafe.
Word has recently come down that Austin Favorite and No Depression darling, Jon Dee Graham will be making monthly visits up I-35 to display his skills, where he has recently encountered problems. Excellent writing, sharp wit, and a fabulously distinct vocal that is akin to a smokey growl are Graham’s trademarks. It also appears as though he will be paired with an excellent metroplex artist on each visit. In February, Graham will have the Slobber-worthy Brent Best opening up for him. This is a great chance to see what Austinites who visit the Continental Club every Wednesday night get to see all too often.
