Univeristy of North Video Gold Texas
15 October 2008 in Music, Random, Video, blah blah blah, live gigsI was bummin’ around the other day and stumbled upon great stuff from what may be the two greatest acts to ever come out of Denton, TX (Home of the Mean Green from Univeristy of North Texas). Both of these videos are shot at the one and only, Dan’s Silverleaf in Denton. Slobberbone is no more (the below video of them is from a one-time reunion show that took place a couple of months back), they are now the splendid and rocking Drams, but Centro-matic is still kicking butt and will be doing so on an upcoming East Coast tour soon.
Centro-Matic’s new video (shot in front of Dan’s Silverleaf):

I loved Slobberbone and still love the Drams Good Stuff!!!
yeah, i miss slobberbone, but the drams are great and should have some new stuff soon!
Slobberbone was definitely great…and speaking of bands that no longer exist, I finally got my whole catalog of cd’s transferred to iTunes and came across Guadalcanal Diary. These guys have to be one of the most underrated bands of all time. Their stuff still holds up very well after all these years. They were also very good live. I still have fond memories of seeing them back in the day with my good buddy, Truck. Anyway, that is my random thought for the day. I believe Chip will concur.
Guadalcanal Diary? Thats an awesome name. I’ll have to see if i can find anything on them, sounds cool though…
Fitz, still planning on hitting the reckless kelly show when they make it to fla?
Wow….I stumped the music man himself! They came out of that whole Athens GA scene. Definitely check them out and let me know what you think. I am still planning to check out Reckless Kelly in a couple weeks.
i just poured out a forty for slobberbone. “Your Excuse” is my heart song from them. i played it at my wedding even. red sox suk
I love your excuse, but give me “Front porch” as my top all-time fave Slobberbone song…
