The Gobblers Knob

A blog’s “Blogroll” (the list of other blogs on the left of this page) may seem trivial to some, but I would completely disagree with that assumption, as the blogs linked to from a site seems to often reprsent a good chunk of what you can expect from that specific blog or site.  Typically, I have added blogs that have “added” me for one reason or another, maybe I liked their blog, so I emailed them and arranged to have us place each others blog on our pages or the other way around.  Typically, I imagine that many bloggers do not put certain blogs onto their blogroll unless their blog is added onto that specific roll as well. 

If that is the case, and I think it is for the most part, I am changing that pattern.  On my blogroll, you will see some familiar names like The 9513, Twangville, Twang Nation, etc… You will now also see some new ones such as Nine Bullets and Lonesome Music, among others.  Some of the old names are gone as they are no longer active or have switched focus or whatever.  I figure that if I enjoy reading these blogs and getting introduced to new bands from these passionate, knowledgeable bloggers, then you will likely feel the same way (provided you do not read these already), whether they give a crap about the ol’ Gobblers Knob or not.

The fact is, I have emailed a couple of these bloggers regarding “link trades”, only for those emails to go unanswered for one reason or another.  Also, there are times when the writing or discussion on these blogs aren’t totally my style  for one reason or another as well (not necessarily from the 4 new ones I have added today, as there will be more that will be introduced soon) . My point being that blogs such as Songs:Illinois and many others like them, have become the primary way for a music lover to really find out about new bands through the filter and discretion of a fellow music lover. I also appreciate the work of blogs that maintain a regular pace of new postings, especially The Aquarium Drunkard.  As loyal readers of The Gobblers Knob know, I try to keep up with a couple of posts a week, sometimes more, sometimes a tad less.  These 4 new blogs are really awesome at providing new material on a regular, if not daily basis.

That ended up being alot longer than I meant, but oh well…..
