Steve Winwood – New Track: “Dirty City”

16 April 2008 in Music, Random, blah blah blah

As many of you know, my main musical love is the raw, rootsy, rockin’ sound of what most people call “Alt-Country”.  Of course, I love many other forms as well.  I have written on these pages about Counting Crows, Dropkick Murphys, Band of Horses and even Blues Traveler.  I have also always appreciated the work of Steve Winwood, especially his work with Eric Clapton in Blind Fatih.  We have a reunion of sorts (calm down), with the track, “Dirty City” from Winwood’s forthcoming solo CD Nine Lives (April 29 Sony).  Clapton provides the guitar slingin’ in this track which I cant help but call groovy  thanks to the keyboard work that will surely go under-recognized next to Clapton’s guitar and Winwood’s classic, distinctive vocals.

  3. I am pumped about it too. If the rest of the album has the same vibe as this song, i’ll be very happy!
