Change of plans….
18 September 2007 in CD Review, Events, Local Music (D/FW), Music, Random, blah blah blahWell, I am a feeling a bit “Bleu” today (sorry, couldn’t help it). As my naughty and loyal readers were aware, I was looking forward to the release of Bleu Edmondson’s CD “Lost Boy” with crazy anticipation. Unfortunately, there has been a delay, and we will not get to experience a trip down Edmondson’s Thunder Road (Springsteen reference, you’ll see what I mean after you listen to the cd) until October 2nd. This presents a dilemma, as well as an exciting possibility. As it currently stands, October 2nd is turning out to be one of the bigger days in Texas/Red Dirt music history, as we will welcome into this world the new arrivals from not only Edmondson, but from Ryan Bingham (Mescalito) and Cross Canadian Ragweed (Mission California) as well. I feel bad for my wife and new baby, as October 2, 2007 will forever be known by my young, tolerant family as the day that “Daddy ignored us.“

Just checkin’ to see if you’ve heard of Hank Van Hawkins. Heard him on myspace. Very unpretentious but very talented songwriter. Also, wondering if you had a chance to check out Bonepony. I’m trying to repay you for turning me on to Reckless Kelly.
I did check out Bonepony and i loved ‘em. I dig that there is so much authentic, twangy and edgy music coming out of nashville (ned van go also). I’ll check HVH out too, thanks! I am hitting the Reckless kelly show tonight in DAllas. I’ll try and get video to post (i may not go if my 2 mo. old boy isnt feeling better, though)..
This is the difference between living in South Florida and somewhere that has a real music scene. You get to go out and see Reckless Kelly tonight(and even if you miss it you’re not too bummed cause there will be another great band next week) and i’m stuck going to see Brad Paisley tomorrow night and i’m still in depression that I missed Todd Snider two months ago cause it may be another year before a quality band comes within 4 hours of where I live. But thats the burden I have to bear, I guess, to be able to go to the beach in January and think it’s cold when it hits the low 70′s.
[...] to start off by apologizing to Cross Canadian Ragweed and their new CD, Mission California. As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, October 2nd was destined to become a big day in my CD buying life. With the release of Mescalito [...]
