I know what you’re thinking, and believe me, I am thinking it too. What the eff will Joy Behar do now that Rosie is gone from the View?!?!? Also, I am willing to wager that we are both thinking of hearing some local Country that isn’t just Country (yeah, I am kind of a genius). Take a trip to your myspace page, Type in these 3 band names: The Von Erhics, 100 Damned Guns, and Joey Green & The J-45′s. The Von Erhics (Dallas) throw Country, Punk, & Roadhouse Blues into a bag, shake it up, and throw it in your face as they beat you senseless whilst you are blinded by the dusty, stinging mixture. Denton’s 100 Damned Guns are what Marty Robbins would’ve sounded like if he were still alive, had a bigger set of stones, and didn’t age much. That brings us to Joey Green (Ft. Worth), who is Ryan Adams without the 4am hash binges and string of broken bones. These are all bands that are either playing a whole bunch around town soon, or are even releasing new CD’s for all the world to see. These are bands that would be critical darlings and have “next big thing” status bestowed upon them if they were giggin’ in Austin. 3 different bands spinning 3 different styles busting out of 3 different cities, all in one metroplex. Austin can’t say that (even if they can, they can’t for the sake of this post), so make sure to catch them and get their new CD’s. Also, make them your friend on myspace and get their info. and listen to their songs. We can all use a little help from our (myspace) friends.
